This is probably my most used cloth diaper pattern, and I have used lots, including some of the really popular ones. I love that I can use it with either PUL or wool outers, that it is simple to make with a relatively small amount of almost any diaper appropriate fabric, and that the pocket style allows for both custom absorbency and quick, easy drying. I am moving soon and will probably be destashing all of my fluff... if I have any more babies and need to start cloth again, I will 100% rebuild with this as a staple piece.

These were very fun and easy to make. The elastic does an impressive job at containing most of our poosplosions, and the inserts fall right out in the wash as promised! I feel a swelling of pride when I see them drying on the line at the end of the day. :)

I really wanted to try cloth diapers for my first child this fall. I sew quite often and this pattern was a breeze. I have yet to make one of the waterproof diaper covers, but plan to. I haven’t looked at the other projects available from this website, but I would consider completing some others.

I am very grateful for the free diaper pattern! I have sewn one as recommended and a few more out of old towels, unfortunately my old tshirts are temporarily all in storage while we live in another country. I like how easy the pattern is when sewn with a tshirt, and just an extra step finishing the top and bottom edges with a zig zag stitch is not much more work for sewing the pattern with a terrycloth towel.

I altered the design, as I didn't want to put elastic in and didn't want to use a T-shirt! I had Terry towels which were causing my 4 month old nappy rash but wanted to get more mileage out of them, so I cut them up and used micro fleece as the other side. I sewed in a kind of gusset, which I could insert elastic into later but now it's working just fine if I tuck it in. The length is really long but I'm guessing that will be fine as Bub grows, for now I just tuck it in.
So far, so good... now I have a pocket nappy which is halfway between a Terry and a MCN!

I love this pattern and so far I have made 4 t-shirt diapers using it. I changed how the elastic is done though and I wish the front had a little flare to it because it slips out from under the snappi sometimes. I like the pockets on both sides; it makes it very easy to shake inserts out.

I love this pattern. We use pocket diapers for the day, but it’s not working for the night. This is the best solution I have found so far. I used a T-shirt for the exterior and some bamboo terry for the inside. I also sewed a layer of microfiber inside and use a bamboo insert. No leaks so far. If your baby is bigger (my girl is 25 pounds at 7 months!) and you plan on using a thick insert, I would recommend buying the bigger cover add on, since the standard is not quite big enough to cover the diaper around the thighs.

I made this for my friends dog. It fit him perfectly. I did make a hole for his tail. A large button hole. It worked very well. He isn’t house trained at all. I know this is for babies, but it did work for the dog as well.

These diapers are just as easy to put together as the description says, and they do work really well! No snaps to worry about...though you could add some if you wanted. Best of all you can use this with any of your favorite fabrics; old clothing or your favorite woven prints (with slight modification). Make them even nicer by using an athletic mesh or other moisture-wicking fabric on the inside. I definitely prefer these diapers over most others in my collection.

My sister and I did a ton of research before landing on this method of cloth diapering. I am a very experienced seamstress; still, these came together so quickly and easily that I'm sure any beginner with a sewing machine would have NO problem making them! I would recommend practicing with some really old/grungy t-shirts first to get your technique down, then move on to the good ones. Can't wait to try them on the baby, and love finding a good use for old recycled t-shirts that aren't quilt-worthy. Super easy, economical, earth friendly, and fun!

I tweaked the design a bit, adding elastic in the back and sewing a soaker in. I haven't sewed in about 15 years, so I LOVED these directions! So easy to follow! I also did one with a t shirt and one with fabric yardage. Love the final product. I did learn to only use knit fabrics though!

I lead a sewing group at my church. We usually make quilts and send them to other countries with our missionaries. Recently I went to Ethiopia and gave quilts to an orphanage. Next we are taking/sending diapers to the orphanage. The Sewing Servants will be making diapers using the t-shirt pattern and another pattern that uses flannel. I sewed the t-shirt diaper in about 10 or 15 minutes. Now that I have made one, I am sure the others will be faster to make since I will be familiar with the pattern. Thanks so much. This will truly be a blessing to the orphans and to the nannies who care for them.

I love how easy and quick this was to make! I sewed one up, washed it and immediately put it on my son to test out. It worked wonderfully and with the t-shirt insert he was able to wear it for two hours and had no leaks. I am definitely sewing up a whole stash of t-shirt fitteds.

I started with a few of these and they quickly became my entire stash! I have 19 now and they fit my chunky 19 pounds 8 month old and my tall and skinny 27 pounds 2 and a half year old perfectly!(he's out of diapers but i wanted to see if they would fit anyway) I use my own homemade inserts and nickis diapers covers with them and they are perfect! Will definitely be making more when I get more shirts.

I am a beginner, and this pattern was easy to follow and easy to sew! And I love the fact that it's totally free! I was looking for something useful to make for a friend's baby shower who is wanting to cloth diaper and she loved this idea! It saves us both money AND I will be able to use the pattern for future use with my next children. It's too bad my littlest just got potty trained this year- I don't have any babies to test it on!

I just finished these (I made 11) and have only had them on the bum a few times, but so far so good! They are cute, cheap, and I think will be particularly useful for containing messes when my daughter is more mobile. I sewed in an additional stay dry layer of fleece on the inner side of the diaper. My mom did the elastic for me and said when stretching it to sew the leg gussets, it didn't always spring back so that was a bit annoying but I think that was just crummy elastic. She also tried enclosing the elastic within a casing on a few of the diapers in case we ever want to replace them. Overall, these were pretty simple to construct and look way cute on my LO. I like that they can be folded down small enough to fit her now (14 weeks old) without being SUPER bulky. I'm looking forward to using these more as she grows!

I like how quick they are to sew; no hemming or openings to sew shut. I just tacked each end of the elastic to the seam allowance instead of sewing the whole length of the elastic along the seam line. It saves even more time. I like how lightweight and cute they are, and no need to make different sizes. I cut "stuffers" out of old towels, and sewed leftover teeshirt fabric on top. These can be folded once or twice (trifold) and just laid on the diaper, rather than stuffed inside, and if the toweling is thick enough, perhaps the diaper can be used more than once before washing. We'll see!

I used the Rita's rump pattern and an Alva bamboo insert as the soaker. The diaper fits great and holds a decent amount of pee. I did find parts of he instructions to be a little confusing but once I figured out what was going on the diaper was really easy to make. I already have two more cut out and ready to sew!
